Application for Call Me MiSTER

Students who seek to apply to the Call Me MiSTER program must submit application. 

The mission of Call Me MiSTER is to increase the pool of available teachers from a broader more diverse background to help South Carolina's lowest-performing elementary schools. We know, for example, that black males make up only 2% of the teaching workforce nationwide. This program seeks to close those gaps, giving minority students—and all students—the motivation to also lead, achieve, and influence change.

As an education major, you’ll develop the personal and professional skills you need to be successful as a teacher. We also offer some benefits specifically for our Call Me MiSTER program participants. 

• Take advantage of tuition and book assistance.
• Gain social and cultural support from your classmates in the program at Columbia College as well as students across the 27 institutions also participating in the program.
• Work together with your professors and dedicated program coordinator to find the teaching placement that's right for you.
